This thanksgiving let us be grateful for our blessings- and we still have them even though we sometimes think that we don’t- thankful for the power to forgive and to be forgiven, mindful of the need to do our part in making the world a better place for all people, helpful in supporting those causes which bring  justice, compassion and peace to the world and faithful in overcoming those barriers which separate and divide us and keep us from recognizing, valuing, building and sustaining our common good and common ground.

A quote by John Wesley the founder of Methodism captures it beautifully:

“Do all the good you can.

By all the means you can.

In all the ways you can.

In all the places you can.

To all the people you can.

As long as ever you can.”

God help us to always do good.

By doing good we are giving thanks for the good which has been done for us.
